Brocato Presents at Cannabis Event

Joe Brocato was honored to be the attorney panelist for “Retail’s Next Major Disruptor: Cannabis” presented by the Chicago Real Estate Council and the Illinois Chapter of the CCIM Institute.  On May 31, 2019 the Illinois General Assembly passed the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act to legalize recreational marijuana use in the State of Illinois.  The panel discussed the meaning and impact of this new law for the retail industry, the estimated growth of new retail dispensaries in Illinois and the Midwest, and the site dynamics, lease issues and potential pitfalls for landlords, tenants, brokers and attorneys in navigating through a cannabis deal.
