David J. Ben-Dov

David Ben-Dov has a broad litigation background and significant experience representing a diverse group of clients, including businesses of all sizes, governmental entities, and individuals, at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, and through alternative dispute resolution.

David, who joined GDAFB as a partner in 2016, focuses his practice in three principal areas of litigation: (1) business disputes; (2) representation of employers and executives in employment-related matters; and (3) representation of governmental entities in eminent domain proceedings.  David has previously served as an Assistant Illinois Attorney General, successfully defending numerous large employers in federal and state employment litigation, and handling matters involving state wage and hour laws.

Business Disputes:  David's extensive business litigation experience involves prosecuting and defending complex commercial disputes in a broad range of areas, including real estate disputes, contracts and leases, fraud claims, business torts, mechanics liens and surety bonds, fiduciary duty claims, trust and estate disputes, insurance coverage, and defense of class action lawsuits.

Employment Litigation & Counseling:  David's employment litigation experience includes the representation of employers of all sizes, both private entities and governmental agencies, in the defense of cases filed under various federal employment statutes, and state wage and hour laws, in state and federal courts, and before the Illinois Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Illinois Department of Human Rights.  David has also handled internal investigations for employers, represented executives in compensation disputes, and litigated restrictive covenants (non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality) in employment agreements.  The focus of David's successful defense of employers has been to win cases at the motion stage through effective legal writing and analysis.

Eminent Domain & Condemnation:  David has handled the representation of governmental entities in eminent domain actions involving the acquisition of property for public roadway expansions and highway extensions in the Northern Illinois region.  David has litigated numerous condemnation matters involving public works projects in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will Counties.

David is an avid cyclist and has been recognized as a "Gold Spoke," as one of the top fundraisers for the National MS Society, in conjunction with Bike MS: Tour De Farms 2014 and 2015.
